Description: Designed by Degenkolb Structural Engineers Inc., this project includes three distinct solutions: (1) Extensive tri-chord truss exoskeleton, suspended over the existing roof structure to hold roof girders; (2) Exterior “Buckling Restrained Brace” buttress system; and (3) Steel plate reinforcement of office floor diaphragms and heavy channel reinforcement of Glulam girders.

Project Name: 1510 Page Mill
Project Type: Seismic Upgrade
Location: Palo Alto, CA
General Contractor: Devcon Construction

Description: This three-story concrete-framed office building was structurally damaged by the 1989 Loma Preita Earthquake. Repairs to the superstructure included installation of built-up plate reinforcing at existing concrete columns and installation of steel-braced frames along the oustide of the building.

Description: Originally built in 1972, Marina Towers is the tallest building in Vallejo. The 14-story apartment building was a unique and creative challenge in planning to erect a complete skeletal reinforcement bracing on the outside of the existing building while occupied.
